Learning Outcomes
On successful completion of this subject, students should be able to:
- Students will gain relevant industry experience in a range of categories in the building industry
Subject Content
- Design: Design, drafting, documentation, specification writing and preparing tender packages
- Construction: Working as builders labourers, tradesmen, foremen supervisors and quality controllers
- Commercial Management: Contract administration, businesses administration, sales, marketing and cost control
- Estimating: Quantity surveying, estimating, tendering, preparing quotations, feasibility studies and pricing variations.
- Project Management: Construction planning, project management, property development, progress reporting and works scheduling
- Building Materials: Sales, purchasing, stores and stock control
- Miscellaneous related activities: Material testing, research local government building departments, tutoring, client or third party inspection and supervision
