Employers these days set a lot of store by mathematical skills, even for jobs that may not sound at all like “maths”, such as certain marketing jobs.  Having some background in mathematical thinking can make the difference between being stumped by a problem and seeing a solution.  No matter what your area of study is, this minor gives you the opportunity to use some of the elective space in your program to pick up additional skills that will be useful throughout your career.  Prospective teachers can tailor this minor to meet the NESA requirements for “Mathematics” as additional teaching area.
