This program is available to RANZCOG specialist trainees in Obstetrics & Gynaecology pursuing their interests in surgical gynaecology. The Graduate Diploma in Advanced Gynaecological Surgery aims to develop a theoretical framework which can be applied in a clinical setting to help assess, plan and perform gynaecological surgery. There is an emphasis on the principles of surgical techniques with respect to gynaecological anatomy, physiology and pathology. Students will analyse biostatistics relating to gynaecological surgery to assist in reviewing the clinical literature, cases and outcomes. This program is expected to take 1-year full time to complete. On completion of the Graduate Diploma in Advanced Gynaecological Surgery, students who meet the admission requirements for the Master of Surgery (Advanced Gynaecological Surgery) may apply for entry.

Admission

All students must be:

  1. Trainees or Specialists in Obstetrics & Gynaecology (RANZCOG or other accredited college)
  2. Satisfactory completion of RANZCOG written examination
  3. Minimum 2 Obstetrics and Gynaecology operating lists per week (of which there must be a minimum of 1 Gynaecology operating list per week)

Special Requirements 

Students undertaking the Graduate Diploma in Advanced Gynaecological Surgery must be registered medical practitioners undertaking or completed specialist Obstetrics & Gynaecology training through RANZCOG (or other accredited college).
