Description This subject is the industry placement for the work integrated learning embedded in the Bachelor of Cyber Security and Behaviour degree. Students will work with an industry placement or its equivalent. There are four options for industry placement: 1. WSU-brokered industry placement on a competitive basis; 2. an approved placement at the student's place of work, or via the student's networks and contacts; 3. an industry project report based on industry-generated case studies and problems; 4. continuing at WCACE. In addition, workshops will be conducted throughout the semester to aid in your learning and to support your professional development during this placement or project. Contact the subject coordinator well in advance to elect your own industry placement (such as your current employer). Only options 2 and 3 are available to WSU Online students.

Students must be enrolled in program 1837 - Bachelor of Cyber Security and Behaviour and have successfully completed 140 credit points.

A basic understanding of computer systems, architecture, infrastructure, internet protocols and networking protocols.

Learning Outcomes

After successful completion of this subject, students will be able to:

  1. Explore contemporary real-world cyber security issues in industry.
  2. Propose solutions or methods to aid industrial organisations with risk management, and cyber incident response.
  3. Apply tools, techniques and software utilized in computer security responding cyber security issues/incidents emerging in industry.
  4. Construct reports and presentations that can effectively communicate complex information related to cyber security and behaviour in industry.
  5. Reflect on professional development needs to enhance evidence-based practice in cyber security in industry.
