Description This subject will address contemporary themes in the sociology and anthropology of religion. Placing emphasis on religious beliefs, practices and objects in different communities around the world, and how they may be interconnected transnationally, the subject will interrogate the ways in which religion informs and responds to social change. Consideration will be given to the interconnections between religion and globalisation, as well as the ways in which different groups may experience or ‘live’ religion. The subject will include case studies on religion and young people, gender and sexuality, ethnicity and Indigeneity, religion and nature, health and wellness, and contemporary spiritualities.
