Description The aim of this subject is to prepare the student for out-of-hospital care of gynaecological, obstetric, and neonatal patient presentations. It focuses on understanding the theoretical and practical requirements to assess and manage female patients throughout the lifespan including management of the foetus and neonate.

Learning Outcomes
After successful completion of this Subject, students will be able to
- Describe the epidemiology of obstetric, gynaecological, and neonatal out-of-hospital management
- Apply knowledge of typical and atypical growth and development of the mother and foetus during pregnancy
- Demonstrate out-of-hospital assessment and management of gynaecological, obstetric, and neonatal presentations
- Employ professional and ethical behaviour that recognises other health practitioners in the management of select gynaecological, obstetric, and neonatal presentations
- Distinguish appropriate assessment and management of the individual who has been subject to intimate partner violence

Theoretical and practical knowledge and management within the out-of-hospital setting for:
- Normal pregnancy and parturition
- Common complications in pregnancy and obstetric emergencies
- Obstetric and gynaecological disorders
- The neonate
- Intimate partner violence
