Description This subject draws on psychology and sociology to develop your practical human resource management (HRM) expertise by exploring the complexities of people, work and society. Designed for building careers as HRM professionals, you will develop policy and procedures that consider context, diversity and socially responsible management. In examining the dynamic interplay between people and society, you will focus on the role of community and in particular, indigenous perspectives within both historical and contemporary work and employment analysis. You will reflect on your learning and present your own research on a topic that demonstrates a deep understanding of the challenges facing HRM professionals in the areas of health, safety and well-being at work.

Learning Outcomes
On successful completion of this subject, students should be able to:
- Identify the implications of individuals�f psychology, social change and diverse workforces for effective HRM practice;
- Explain the importance of managing diversity for developing an inclusive and competitive workplace, relative to the challenges of social change and conflict;
- Formulate policy and procedures that demonstrate HRM�fs potential contribution to organisational social, economic and environmental sustainability;
- Identify key aspects of work psychology and sociology in order to analyse the role of HR practitioners relative to the tensions between economic and socio-legal imperatives.
