On successful completion of this subject, students should be able to:
- Define the basic terms and concepts of both financial accounting and management accounting
- Describe the key relationships in financial accounting
- Identify the role and limitations of general purpose financial statements in providing information for decision making
- Use financial analysis tools for performance evaluation
- Explain the nature of costs, cost behaviour and various costing systems including activity-based costing
- Perform simple break-even analysis and target profit estimation
- Identify and explain various aspects of choosing among alternative business opportunities
- Understand the significance of budgets in planning and control.
