This program replaces 4690 Master of Surgery in Advanced Gynaecological Surgery from 1H 2020

Students should follow the program structure for the session start date relevant to the year they commenced.

This program is available to specialist trainees in Obstetrics & Gynaecology who are undertaking a Fellowship in Advanced Gynaecological Surgery. This program aims to build on the foundations set in the Graduate Diploma in Advanced Gynaecological Surgery, with an emphasis on evidence based best practice with respect to surgical techniques for various gynaecological pathologies. Students will reflect on personal experiences in gynaecological surgery, empowering continued self-improvement, appraisal and audit to enhance professional practice in advanced gynaecological surgery. This program is expected to take a further 1-year full time to complete after satisfactory completion from the Graduate Diploma in Advanced Gynaecological Surgery (2 years in total).

Early Exit

Students may exit this program on completion of 60 credit points with a 4766 Graduate Diploma in Advanced Gynaecological Surgery

While this program does not require accreditation, the clinical component is recognised for advanced trainees in Obstetrics and Gynaecology by RANZCOG (The Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists).

Admission

All students must be:

  1. Advanced Trainees or Specialists in Obstetrics & Gynaecology (RANZCOG or other accredited college).
  2. Undertaking a Surgical Fellowship (minimum 1 year full time) in Advanced Gynaecological Surgery at an accredited site.
  3. A minimum of 4 Gynaecology operating lists per week.
  4. Satisfactory completion of the Graduate Diploma in Advanced Gynaecological Surgery.

Special Requirements Prerequisites

Students undertaking the Master Surgery (Advanced Gynaecological Surgery) must be registered medical practitioners undertaking or completed specialist Obstetrics & Gynaecology training through RANZCOG (or other accredited college). In addition, they must be undertaking a surgical fellowship (minimum 1 year) in Advanced Gynaecological Surgery at an accredited site.
