The Bachelor of Arts (Pathway to Teaching Early Childhood/Primary) provides students with the opportunity to complete an Arts degree with an Arts major alongside a specialist Early Childhood and Primary Education Studies minor.
Graduates of this degree are eligible for direct entry into the Master of Teaching (Birth - 5 Years / Birth - 12 Years) via the Transition to Teaching pathway. Completion of both the Bachelor and Master programs provides a teaching qualification for Early Childhood or Early Childhood and Primary teaching. Eligible students will receive advice during their final study session in the Bachelor of Arts (Pathway to Teaching Early Childhood/Primary) regarding how to accept an offer into the Postgraduate course to attain a teaching qualification.

Work Integrated Learning
Western Sydney University seeks to enhance student learning experiences by enabling students to engage in the culture, expectations and practices of their profession or discipline. This program includes a placement or other community-based unpaid practical experience.

Admission
Assumed knowledge: 2 units of HSC Mathematics and 2 units of HSC English or equivalent.
Recommended studies for school leavers: Band 4 or above in both HSC English and HSC Mathematics or equivalent;
Applicants are selected by one of the below listed criteria:
- On the basis of their ATAR score or equivalent rank, or
- Completion of a Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care or relevant equivalent VET award, or
- Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care (or relevant equivalent VET award) and two years’ full time equivalent work experience.
Credit for Prior Learning
Students who have completed a VET Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care can apply for up to 80 credit points for prior learning.
Students with a Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care and who have two years full time equivalent relevant work experience may be eligible for credit for prior learning for TEAC 2023 Engaging in Early Childhood Education.

International students currently completing an Australian Year 12 in or outside Australia, an International Baccalaureate in Australia or a New Zealand National Certificate of Educational Achievement (NCEA) level 3 must apply via UAC International.

Overseas qualifications must be deemed by the Australian Education International - National Office of Overseas Skills Recognition (AEI-NOOSR) to be equivalent to Australian qualifications in order to be considered by UAC and Western Sydney University.
Special Requirements
TEAC 2023 Engaging in Early Childhood Education requires completion of Working with Children Check, Child Protection Awareness Training and ASCIA e-Anaphylaxis online training for education and care prior to enrolment in the subject.

Qualification for this award requires the successful completion of 240 credit points including the subjects listed in the recommended sequence below.
All students must enrol in and complete:
- 80 credit point Core
- 80 credit point Bachelor of Arts Major
- 40 credit points Education Studies - Early Childhood/Primary Teaching Minor (0331)
- 40 credit points of flexible subjects
Students must complete 60 credit points at Level 3 or higher.

Flexible Subjects
