Building surveying involves assessing building designs and conducting inspections throughout all stages of a building project. This major provides students with knowledge about the building control process and skills in ensuring buildings function well in accordance with the performance requirements of the Building Code of Australia (BCA). Fire safety, energy efficiency and accessibility, as well as trade works compliance in areas such waterproofing are priority topics within this major. Students learn how performance solutions are developed and Deemed-to-Satisfy provisions of the BCA are applied in practice. Students are provided with professional practice opportunities to enable them to develop the knowledge and skills to work in this highly demanding area.
