Description Approaches to Professional Nursing Practice explores the nature and professional context of nursing. The roles and functions of the nurse and their relationship to others are considered in terms of expected competence, responsibilities, accountabilities, and scope of practice. Students will gain an understanding of information enabled care, which is central to modern practice.

Learning Outcomes
On successful completion of this subject, students should be able to:
- Identify the principles of and processes for supporting evidence-based practice
- Conduct the techniques to conduct literature searches from a wide range of sources to support safe and appropriate nursing care
- Explain professional responsibility and accountability when adhering to digital health legislation, policy, ethics, and professional conduct
- Describe the responsibilities of the registered nurse related to scope of practice, delegation, and the supervision framework
- Explain a lifelong learning approach for continuing professional development of self and others, including ongoing resilience and self-reflexivity in a professional context
- Explain the role of registered nurses to ensure accessibility, reliability, privacy, security, and timeliness of data within healthcare environments
