Commencement Year 2014 to 2017 -1674.2 Master of Urban Management and Planning

The Master of Urban Management and Planning gives students the professional and scholarly education to take a leadership role in urban management, strategic planning and policy development. The coursework includes preparation in professional practice, history and the theoretical and legal frameworks for planning. Students will develop skills in a range of relevant areas including governance, urban finance and sustainable strategies. The program also includes sizeable research and industry placement components.

Early Exit

Students may exit this program on completion of 40 credit points with a 1676 Graduate Certificate in Urban Management and Planning

The Master of Urban Management and Planning, when completed in conjunction with the Bachelor of Social Science (Pathway to Master of Urban Management and Planning), or Bachelor of Planning (Pathway to Master of Urban Management and Planning), is accredited by the Planning Institute of Australia (PIA).

Work Integrated Learning

Western Sydney University seeks to enhance student learning experiences by enabling students to engage in the culture, expectations and practices of their profession or discipline.  This program includes a placement or other community-based unpaid practical experience.

Admission

Applicants must have successfully completed an undergraduate degree in planning, geography, social science, environmental studies, architecture and landscape studies, urban and regional studies or public policy.

The program learning outcomes of the varied undergraduate degrees (that students may enter from) are equivalent to those in the Bachelor of Planning.

Undergraduate entrant degrees are not accredited by the Planning Institute of Australia (PIA); only the full pathway including the Master of Urban Management and Planning is accredited.

Applications from Australian and New Zealand citizens and holders of permanent resident visas may be made via the Universities Admissions Centre (UAC) or directly through the Western Portal.
