Master of Information and Communications Technology (MICT) sets the foundation for students to advance their careers in ICT and/or continue further learning in this discipline. Students will be required to complete a work experience component in addition to a number of core and elective subjects. Students may also chose to complete a field of study out of the available fields for this program. This program is focused on getting students engaged in enquiry-based learning to acquire knowledge in established theories and recent state-of-the-art developments. Students are also expected to develop skills in problem solving and research practice and apply those skills in a professional and ethical framework to develop themselves as lifelong learners.

Early Exits

Students may exit this program on completion of 80 credit points with a 3701 Graduate Certificate in Information and Communications Technology or on completion of 120 credit points with a 3700 Graduate Diploma in Information and Communications Technology

Two years full-time or one and a half years full time depending upon entry qualifications (see Pathways listed under Program Structure below) or the equivalent part-time.

The Master of Information and Communication Technology is accredited at Professional Level by the Australian Computer Society.

Work Integrated Learning

Western Sydney University seeks to enhance student learning experiences by enabling students to engage in the culture, expectations and practices of their profession or discipline.  This program includes a placement or other community-based unpaid practical experience.

There is a mandatory work component required for completion of this program.  Please contact the Program Advisor listed above for information.

Minimum admission requirements to this program are: An undergraduate degree or Masters degree in any discipline.

Additional Information

This program has three Pathways (A, B and C) that vary in length and structure based on previous study and work experience.

Pathway A - Applicants must have successfully completed an undergraduate degree in any discipline.

Pathway B - Applicants must have successfully completed an Honours or Master degree in any discipline.

Pathway C - Applicants must have successfully completed an Australian Computer Society accredited (or equivalent) undergraduate degree in Information and Communication Technologies, Computing or Information Systems

Or

An undergraduate degree in any discipline AND a Graduate Certificate or Graduate Diploma in ICT.

Applicants seeking admission on the basis of work experience must support their application with a Statement of Service for all work experience listed on the application.
