This program applies to students who commenced in 2022 or later.
The Master of Education critically examines recent developments in theory, policy, practice and methodologies for research for educators across early childhood, primary, secondary, tertiary, TAFE, community-based and other professional settings. Students will develop knowledge of research principles and practices and review and evaluate theory and scholarship in their area of specialisation. They will apply concepts and theories to new bodies of knowledge and practice; design original evidence-based investigations; and analyse and synthesise a range of data about complex problems in order to reframe problems and generate solutions. Students will develop and evaluate innovations to improve learning outcomes in workplace settings, communicate their findings to diverse audiences and contribute to scholarship in their specialisation. This program is delivered online.

Students may exit this program on completion of 40 credit points with a 1913 Graduate Certificate in Education (exit only)

Admission
Applicants for admission into the Master of Education must have successfully completed
- an undergraduate degree, or higher, in teaching/education (an undergraduate degree in teaching includes the historical 2-3 year Diploma of Teaching/Education prior to 1987); Or
- undergraduate degree, or higher, in political science, policy studies, health, human welfare studies and services, or behavioural science AND 5 years’ professional work experience in these fields.
Applicants seeking admission on the basis of work experience must support their application with a Statement of Service for all work experience listed on the application.

Advanced Standing
Students with a postgraduate (Level 8) qualification OR a bachelor qualification (Level 7) plus three years full-time work (or part-time equivalent) experience in the fields of teaching/education, can apply for up to 40 credit points of Advanced Standing.
Program Structure
Qualification for this award requires the successful completion of 120 credit points which include the subjects listed in the recommended sequence.
To qualify for this award, students must complete:
- 30 credit points of standard core subjects,
- 10 credit points of functionally equivalent core subjects,
- one 40 credit point testamur major, and
- 40 credit points of alternate/specialisation subjects selected from the Alternate subject pool or major subjects.
