Description This is an introductory law subject designed to introduce the fundamentals of law in a commercial context. The subject introduces students to the basic principles of law and the legal system as well as examining some of the major areas of law that impact on commercial dealings. This subject examines the legal system, the way law is made and the main areas of law relevant to starting and running a business including contracts, negligence and consumer protection.

Learning Outcomes
On successful completion of this subject, students should be able to:
- Identify the features of relevant legal systems that apply to commercial enterprises, including the impact on Indigenous peoples.
- Explain fundamental legal concepts and principles relevant to commercial enterprises.
- Identify legal issues and strategies to respond to practical commercial problems.
- Communicate analysis of practical commercial problems.
