Description This subject provides students with opportunities outside the usual classroom experience. The subject uses knowledge acquired previously in the subject Chinese Cultural Policy and Practice and offers a real life application of this knowledge within a Chinese cultural context. Students will be required to travel to China for two to three weeks during their inter session break. While in China, they will visit important cultural and academic institutions and keep a daily diary of this experience. On their return to Australia students will be finalising assessment tasks required as part of this subject.

On successful completion of this subject, students should be able to:
- Discuss Chinese culture, as it applies to social and artistic settings.
- Consider the roles of cultural institutions in relation to knowledge of contemporary Chinese society and China�fs international cultural links.
- Integrate existing knowledge with new, on-the-spot discoveries.
- Reflect on observations of contemporary China in relation to historical, social, artistic and technological developments.
