Handbook summary 2024
The Graduate Certificate in Education critically examines recent developments in theory, policy, and practice for educators across early childhood, primary, secondary, tertiary, TAFE, community-based and other professional settings. Students will develop knowledge and evaluate theory and scholarship in their area of specialisation. They will apply concepts and theories to new bodies of knowledge and practice; design original evidence-based investigations; and analyse a range of data about complex problems to reframe problems and generate solutions. Students will develop and evaluate innovations to improve learning outcomes in workplace settings and communicate their findings to diverse audiences. This program is delivered online.

Admission 2022-2023
This is an exit point only from program 1911 Master of Education.
Admission from Autumn 2024
Applicants for admission into the Graduate Certificate in Education must have successfully completed either:
- an undergraduate degree, or higher, in teaching/education (an undergraduate degree in teaching includes the historical 2-3 year Diploma of Teaching/Education prior to 1987); Or
- undergraduate degree in any discipline and five years’ full time equivalent professional work experience in a field considered by the School to be appropriate to the study program and specialisation.

Applicants seeking admission on the basis of work experience must support their application with a Statement of Service for all work experience listed on the application.
Applications from Australian and New Zealand citizens and holders of permanent resident visas must be made via the Universities Admissions Centre (UAC). Use the links below to apply via UAC or Western Sydney University. Applications made directly to Western Sydney do not have an application fee.
Applicants who have undertaken studies overseas may have to provide proof of proficiency in English.
