The Secondary EALD Education Major enables students to graduate from the Bachelor of Education (Secondary) as a specialist teacher of English as an Additional Language/Dialect (EALD). Graduates will support school students to develop the Australian English proficiency needed to access and succeed in the school curriculum. The Major provides students with 60 credit points of EALD discipline knowledge and 20 credit points of pedagogy and curriculum knowledge in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL). The Secondary EALD Education Major will span the Foundation and Development phases of the Bachelor of Education (Secondary), enabling students to develop strong pedagogical content knowledge, an understanding of evidence-based pedagogies, and skills in using assessment and feedback to guide and enhance student learning.
