The Secondary Chinese Education Major will provide students with 80 credit points of Chinese discipline knowledge and 20 credit points of Language pedagogy and curriculum knowledge. Together with completion of subjects in the Bachelor of Education (Secondary), this Major will enable students to meet requirements to graduate from the Bachelor of Education (Secondary) with the Language teaching area in Chinese. Students completing this 100cp major will use 20cp of electives in the program. The Secondary Chinese Education Major will span the Foundation and Development phases of the Bachelor of Education (Secondary), enabling students to develop strong pedagogical content knowledge, an understanding of evidence-based pedagogies, and skills in using assessment and feedback to guide and enhance student learning.

Major Structure
- Note: Students may need to travel to different campuses depending on subject availability and campus offerings.
Students must successfully complete 100 credit points as follows.
Students complete eight LANG subjects according to the beginner, intermediate, or advanced streams reflecting their level of competence at program entry. All students must complete at least two LANG subjects at Level 3.
Students must also complete the two listed TEAC subjects at Level 3 and Level 4.

The beginner stream is suitable for students with no or minimal previous study of the Chinese language.
