Health Informatics, Major (0037)

Increasingly, healthcare information is being captured electronically and newer technology modes are being applied in many innovative ways to support efficient and effective clinical care. Students completing this major develop an understanding of Information and Communications Technology (ICT) concepts in healthcare including electronic healthcare records; healthcare data analysis; fundamentals of medicine concepts and terminologies; disease and intervention classification systems; healthcare IT system interoperability and design. This major will prepare students for the ICT challenges ahead in the healthcare domain and equip them with the knowledge and skills for taking up employment opportunities within public and private healthcare providers and technology suppliers.
